Common questions
Why does WiFi matter on a trainer?
Because Bluetooth in a room with phones, headphones and a tablet is a congested band, and a dropout mid interval corrupts the workout. A trainer on your home WiFi network holds a far more stable connection and transfers ride data instantly. If you have ever lost a Zwift race to a dropout, this is the fix.
KICKR V6 or KICKR CORE 2?
The CORE 2 has the same ride feel and WiFi for three hundred dollars less and includes the Zwift Cog so you skip the cassette. The V6 has a heavier flywheel and a higher resistance ceiling. For most riders the CORE 2 is the better buy and the V6 is for racers and heavy sprinters.
Is plus or minus 1 percent accuracy meaningful?
It is the standard claim across serious trainers and power meters, and what matters more in practice is consistency: a device that reads two percent high every time is more useful for training than one that varies. Do not mix power sources within a training block.
Do I need a cassette?
For the V6, yes, matched to your drivetrain speed and brand. The CORE 2 ships with the Zwift Cog and a Click controller instead, which removes the job entirely. Factor the cassette and the fitting into the V6's real price.
